UFO or
meteor?
A dozen or more people, eight of them in the
Haines Junction area and the rest in the
Whitehorse area, reported that they saw an
un-identified bright object, or flare in the sky
at 9 pm November 30.
The RCMP sub division at Whitehorse said this
week that the phenomenon seemed to be brightest
at Haines Junction, 100 miles northwest of
Whitehorse, but was clearly seen here as well.
They said that one report came from a group of
four people, two of whom were standing beside a
car on the highway, one working beneath the car
and a fourth person in a house. They saw an
object travelling in an arc at a steep angle
from south to northwest. No bursts were noticed
but it was very bright, comparable to a bright
light from a welder's torch and it "lit up half
the sky"
