Sir:
On the evening of May 3, about 10:45 p.m., I saw
an unusual light over the south end of Thetis
Island (off the east coast of Vancouver Island).
It was very bright, brighter than a star. It was
pinpoint at first, then it got bigger, and then
it would go smaller until it went out. This
hovering object stayed for about 20 minutes and
then disappeared.
Next night it appeared again at 10:45 p.m., very
bright, but only hovered for about 10 minutes.
During this time I was on the phone for a minute
and when I hung up I went to the window and saw
the tail of the light disappear behind the trees
on the east side of the island. Later I looked
out my dining-room window only to see this
object north of Thetis Island, bobbing up and
down like a ball over the tops of the trees,
very bright and it got a lot brighter still.
When it seemed to have reached the gap between
Kuper and Thetis Islands, it suddenly lit up
like a ball of fire. If it had been any
brighter, it would have lit up the entire
islands. What a thrilling sight it was! It
stayed there for a matter of minutes and
disappeared.
An object again appeared on the next two nights.
This was also a bright light which hovered for a
few minutes and then went out as quickly as it
came on.
On the night of May 27 an object came on very
bright at first and then dimmed slowly to a
pinpoint before going out. It stayed on for
about 15 minutes.
It appears to me there is something very
interesting for this strange object to come back
to these very popular islands again and again.

Chemainus, B.C.
