Three members of a
Campbell River family and another man watched a
UFO for more than an hour in the wee small hours
of last Tuesday morning. (7 April 1970)
"It was brighter than a star and projected a
beam to the southwest," Mrs. Pat Herman of 1421
Perkins, said this week.
Mrs. Herman, her husband Ken, 16-year-old son
Larry and Dick Lapine, watched the object from
the Herman home.
Ken Herman and Lapine first spotted the UFO
while driving home from work at 2:30 a.m.
The men woke Mrs. Herman and her son up as soon
as they arrived at the Herman home and the four
watched the object for more than an hour.
"It held steady and didn't move at all," Mrs.
Herman said, "dispelling any thoughts in my mind
that it was a comet.
She said she phoned the Comox Air Base and
pointed out the location, but the man on duty
said he was unable to see anything. (40; )
