Sir:
Recently I was looking out my bedroom window
towards Mt. Benson which is about four to five
miles away when I noticed lights which seemed to
rise to a high altitude and then to decrease in
altitude immediately. I watched this display for
about an hour before leaving the room.
The night was clear and there was no obstruction
to interfere with my view. The temperature was
moderate and a light breeze was coming from the
southeast.
When I returned to the room an hour later I
watched again for about 15 minutes but did not
see any more sign of activity. When I looked
through my field glasses I saw a few stars which
were too dim to be seen by the naked eye, so I
concluded that what I saw could not be stars
unless they increased and decreased in magnitude
within a few seconds.
But I have saved a part of my description which
I think might be of value to you in your
conclusion of this case. Before I left, I asked
my brother to come in and keep watch, which he
did for about 10 minutes. When I returned he
told me that he had seen vertical red strips
coming from a shimmering white object above the
lights. They lasted for about 15 seconds, then
they vanished while the white object flicked
out.
