Mr. and Mrs.
Lorenzen,
In this letter that I am writing to you, don’t
think of me as some kind of nut or a crackpot,
try to think of me as a level-headed person
whose job is delivering newspapers.
On Jan. 26, 1968 my friend and I were
observing stars through a telescope. Our
attention was centered on a bright satellite
that was passing through the sky.
Suddenly, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a
bright green object at about the time my
friend noticed it too. We turned and saw a
large fiery green object moving quite quickly
toward the horizon. The front section was
solid. It was about the size of a dime. It
gave off a white vapour, which would disappear
almost instantly. We thought at first that it
was a meteor, bolide or a comet. It could not
have been because as it came closer to the
horizon, it turned sharply towards the east,
finally it disappeared over the mountains that
were there.
My friend and I phoned this report in to the
local radio. The man said that there had been
reports that were quite similar to ours, all
evening. My friend and I have a very good
knowledge of meteors, comets, bolides,
commercial aircraft, satellites, balloons;
because we have been amateur astronomers for
about a year and a half and have observed
these things many times. My friend had been
taking exposures of star trails at the time.
The object might have passed into these
momentarily. I doubt it. But if it did, I will
try to send you a picture.
Thank you,
Terry O’Krame
P.S. If you think it necessary to write to me,
my address is:

Columbia, Canada.
P.P.S. What I saw.
