The elevation profile of Haystack Mountain, the ridge in front, and the valley behind was obtained from the contour map shown in Figure 15 and superimposed on the photograph taken from the location where the twins observed the UFO disappear entirely behind Haystack Mountain. The two images match quite nicely and show that there was indeed room for this UFO to hide behind Haystack Mountain. Apparently the ridge lines on either side of Haystack Mountain create the wrong impression that this is the ground elevation behind the mountain. The figure also shows the scale of the UFO and indicates that it must have been at least 0.6 km long.
